Too much coat?

I have 4 newfoundlands, 3 females and 1 male. They are breeders with excellent pedigrees and health clearances. I have also done my research and I am also a vet istant. So no answers please about BYB. This question ha nothing to do with breeding. My male is 11 months old. We've had him for 5 months. He is a show prospect, and we want him in the show ring later this summer. His coat is about 4 times thicker than my females. It is also a little dry. I was wondering what would be the best shampoo and conditioner to use to prepare his coat for the show ring. I am currently using Mane and Tail, with Ice on Ice Finishing Spray from Chris Christenson. The spray works really well on my girls, but Gideon's coat is so thick I was wondering if anything else would do better. Suggestions?
