What are some good songs to audition with for the role of Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray?

My high school is doing Hairspray this spring, and I am auditioning for the role of Velma. We are allowed to sing anything from the time period of Hairspray (late 50's to early 60's) or songs from Broadway musicals. I want to sing something that reflects Velma's character and is in the same range as "(The Legend of) Miss Baltimore ." I want to show that my voice is suitable for the character. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
